Growing up, we drank hibiscus iced tea, know in Mexico as Agua de Jamaica. This delicious drink is an infusion of dried hibiscus flowers, and it tastes delicious. This popular drink at Mexican restaurants is loaded with Vitamin C and is full of other healthcare benefits. When my son was a toddler, I used to tell him it was Gatorade, and he believed me. I know, I know, it is not pleasant to lie to your kids, but it worked, and he loved it so much. Now I am glad he had hibiscus water instead of drinks full of awful ingredients. You can easily make Hibiscus tea by boiling four cups of water in a medium-sized saucepan, and once it starts boiling, remove it from heat. Pour the boiling water over 3/4 cups of dried hibiscus petals. Cover the bowl and let the color from the flowers steep into the water. Steep for 10-12 minutes, and then add ice to make a refreshing hibiscus iced tea. You can also add your choice of sweetener to sweeten it up.
