Sugar scrubs are a simple beauty recipe with countless variations, and they can be incredibly moisturizing and exfoliating to the skin. There is nothing better than having a spa day at home, and using a sugar scrub will do that for you.

I use sugar scrubs on my face, body, and feet to scrub away the dead cells and moisturize my skin. The result? Clean, silky skin with minimal effort!

Why Use Sugar Scrub?

Taking time out from mom-life to take care of ourselves isn’t always easy, but it is crucial. During these crazy times with working from home, homeschooling, and literally staying home in quarantine, we need to take some time to practice self-care. Our skin needs TLC to stay healthy.

The best way to take care of our skin is to use natural skin-care products. We need products without preservatives and extra added chemicals. I love my Lemongrass Sugar Scrub by Cleansing Essentials because it is natural, preservative-free, organic, and it smells amazing.

Here’s a glimpse at my skin-care routine, which is also part of my self-care routine:

  • Apply a natural Body Oil post-shower

  • Oil cleanse my face with either one of these two Cleansing Essential Oils

  • I use facial sugar scrub once or twice a week for exfoliation; I love a Citrus Sugar Scrub for my face

  • Finish with a quality nourishing face serum (this one is my absolute favorite)

But since we are all stuck at home, I decided to share with you a simple sugar scrub recipe that you can do with natural ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.

Making a sugar scrub is so easy and fun to make, and it is something that your kids can probably help you make. It can turn out into a perfect family spa day!

DIY Sugar Scrub Recipe

This is the perfect recipe for beauty DIY beginners. Sugar scrubs take under ten minutes to make, and you can have fun customizing them with endless ingredients such as different essential oils, botanicals, and even facial clays for color.

Sugar Scrub Ingredients

1. 1 cup granulated sugar, either white or brown, preferably organic

2. ½ cup olive oil and or coconut oil

3. essential oil of your choice (optional). I love lemongrass because it so energizing and uplifting

4. 1 small wide-mouth glass or a mason jar

How to Make It

  1. Mix all ingredients and store in an airtight container, such as a mason jar.

  2. Use 1 tablespoon as needed in the shower. Scrub skin with the mixture and rinse well. It will leave your skin feeling like silk. Goodbye, dry skin!
