In 2017, my son started developing severe eczema on his hands. I tried dermatologists recommended products, which were full of steroids and harsh chemicals, and they just seemed to make it worse. Nothing we tried worked, or it worked for a short time, and then the eczema would resurface. I began a diligent search for products that would relieve his symptoms.
I came across organic shea butter and read about its wonderful skin benefits. After all the research that I did, I realized that I did not want to purchase processed shea butter from the store, with added preservatives, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates. I decided to create my own Organic Shea Butter formula with organic coconut oil, organic castor oil, and essential oils, and it totally worked.
I began to notice that part of the reason why my son had eczema on his hands was his extreme hand-washing habit. So, even though the shea butter was working, his hands were still a little dry due to all the washing. I decided that if he were going to keep washing his hands excessively, he was at least going to do it with a natural soap. I decided to start making Natural Soaps using only natural and organic ingredients so he could at least wash with a good soap.
I started playing with different recipes and I stuck with the base of extra virgin olive oil, raw organic shea butter, pure coconut oil, castor oil, and various essential oils. The combination of these ingredients made a tremendous difference, to the point that his eczema completely vanished. He still uses my Shea Butter every day and night and only uses my soaps at home.
Soon after, I fell so much in love with the art and craft of making soaps that I started making them for friends and family. They loved my creations so much that I decided to start selling my soaps so I could help people who were having the same problem as my son. On October 1st, 2018, Cleansing Essentials was officially born.
Little by little, I started creating more products with the intention that they might also help someone, even if it was one or two people. Little did I know that, within a year, I would have a small business, and a website, that caters to people wanting natural and organic products to improve their skin.
